Platten von und/oder mit Bill Laswell sind oft brilliant, manchmal nur la la, fast immer aber mit einer ordentlichen Dosis Ethno-Psychedelic, fetten Dub-Bässen und in Hallraum-Untiefen rollenden Klangwolken angereichert. Auch für Volume 4 der „Psychonavigation“-Serie hat der New Yorker Studio-Wizard wieder tief in diesen scheinbar offenbar unerschöpflichen Fundus gegriffen. „Samira“ (Track 2, 7:39) wird von marokkanischen Saitenklängen und afro-arabischer Trance-Percussion auf Touren gebracht; in „ENTIB 2060“ (Track 3, 17:26) treffen wummernde Bass-Figuren (Laswell) auf sehnige Elektro-Beats (Namlook) und im chilligen „Good And Bad“ (Track 4, 17:34) wächst Spannung aus der extremen Langsamkeit, mit der sich die anfangs bedrohlich dunklen Klangschwaden in einem peu à peu aufgehellten Ambiente verflüchtigen. Glanzstück ist indes das melodiöse „Arena“ /Track 1, 12:29): das segelt Laswells Bleibass fast schwerelos durch ein Wolkenmeer aus federleichten Beats und hymnischen Synthi-Harmonien. Euphorisierend.
